Today we woke up to a cold and wet day outside, but don't think that detered us from exploring! We layered up (Patrice taking this very seriously), packed our healthy lunches and are heading off to Alcatraz prison... spooooky!
But before we fill you in on today's adventures, we should bring you up to speed with the last couple of days! Tuesday was spent getting in touch with nature, which involved a hike up to Point Raise, which had beautiful views of the Pacific ocean (we're not so far away from home!) and rolling green hills and greenry which reminded us all of the hills in Ireland (not that we have ever been) and country Victoria! Bambi even made an appearance, posing perfectly for the camera!
When we got to the top of Point Raise, we weren't prepared for the freezing strong winds which almost blew us away, so we quickly took some photos before eating our delicious deli sandwich where the winds could not get us.
The drive home was was just as beautiful, stopping off at some cute little country towns before arriving back at home and getting ready for a night of swing dancing!
We headed into San Fransisco city to a little club called Amneisa where a couple of Kira's friends who are in a swing band were performing! Drinks are so cheap and we had a really fun night dancing and mucking around.

Wednesday we ventured to the Science Museum. This place was amazing! Rooms filled with different exhibits, all individually interesting in there own way. Walking through we experienced an earthquake simulation that demonstrated what the earthquake was like back in 1906 in San Francisco. It shock the town for 90 seconds and flattened many parts of the town.
The museum also had an indoor rainforest which let us move amongst butterflies and parrots in this glass room. Ramps letting us climb higher and higher into the tree canopy.
Kira & Laura were lucky enough to have a butterfly land on them for photos. Patrice had to resort to finding a dead one.. or it was sleeping. In photos you cant even tell. Catching an escalator downstairs it lead us into this underwater tank which allowed us to look at the massive fish swimming above us. Outside we got to meet reindeer's! Huge animals with really impressive antlers. On the way home we stopped off to take a few photos of the Golden Gate. It was the perfect night to go do so, as it was full moon which led to some amazing photos.

Today's adventures led us to Alcatraz Prison! A ferry took us across the island which had this eery feeling about it right as we got off. Walking up the stone cobbled roads up the main prison hall, we collected our headsets and made our way on the tour. The tour taught us about life as a prisoner and a prison guard. The cells were so tiny! Explained by one of the prisoners 'what a cockroach would of felt like in a match box'. There were two prison escapes before it was closes in 1969. One was bloody and ended in being a week filled fighting where the military were called in to take control. The other was done 'The shawshank redemption' style. Three prisoners dug around there air vents in their cells with spoons, pulling them through, climbing up the pipes and made their way outside. Still to this day they have never been found!

After the prison tour was over we walked around the famous Fisher mans Wharf and checked on the seals that came to say hello! Walking through Kira took us to a old warehouse which had oldschool games to play for only a quarter! It housed games such as ones you could go see pictures on 'Naughty Marietta' do her stuff, and a 2 player boxing game with two metal men (Laura won) and a photo booth. We also found a ' Personal Horoscope Reading' where a type writer let us know each one of our fortunes.
On the way home we visited the famous 'Sol Food' for dinner. The most delicious Puerto Rican food.
