So we had quite a nice flight over here - Qantas sure know how to treat their customers! We were fed like kings, popped some champers and watched movies and shows for a solid 12 hours (which is not really different from our usual lives so I'm not sure why I felt the need to share that)!
We arrived at LAX which is not as great as Miley makes it out to be in her song (yes, we have danced to that song upon arrival and will probably do it again) and we were confused little tourists as we wandered around trying to find our airline/flights and wondering if we had sent out baggage halfway around the world. No fear, we made it in the end but were so exhausted having not slept yet, only to be told that our flight will be delayed 2 hours due to heavy fog - sigh.
Eventually we made it to San Fransisco "Frisco" for all you hipsters out there - and we got to finally meet up with the Lovely Kira! She continually insisted on driving on the right side of the road even after us protesting, but gave us a lovely tour around the city and drove us across the Golden Gate for the first time! Super preeeettty!
Our first night was quite relaxed, we saw Kira's super cute cottage and we grabbed a bite to eat with Kira and her bestie Tasia and then headed home, so very shleepy as we had not had a proper sleep for what worked out to be about 30 hours!
Today, we woke up feeling really refreshed (it helps when Kira plays her retro records for us) and we super ready for what was in store! We had our first American cream cheese bagel and caw-fee which was deeeelightful, went to a thrift shop which is totally in right now, and then caught the ferry into the city!
San Fran is known for its super quirky and friendly locals, so it came to no surprise for us that we come across this gentleman.
He had a dog. It was dressed up. We laughed. Laura might have rabies now as it licked her mouth. Still hilarious.
It was so foggy that we couldn't see the bridge on the way over but the ferry ride was still so lovely! Even Alcatraz looked lovely (but mostly creepy) hidden by the fog! The city though is amazing, the buildings are so huge and it is like 5000 times the size of Brisbane (Woah, I know right?!) We had a bit of a squidgerididge (yet to use that on the locals), shopped and did all those girly things and headed home before the last ferry!
On the way home Kira took us up to a look out where you see the Golden gate and the city in the background and it was sooo beautiful and very humbling to see at night! And I am not sure I can look at Mt Cootha the same way again! We took some piccys and headed off home and am now preparing to go for a hike tomorrow, followed by some swing dancing! And then Alcatraz on Wednesday!
Loving every moment here so far and are looking forward to so much more!
Speak to you all soon

you have been there for AGES and only one blog post... eventually I am going to stop pressing 'refresh' every three seconds.
